'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative shot from distance, and the defender immediately slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an unbelievable comeback given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 during the latter period. In the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right wing-back after they changed shape. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then suddenly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think many athletes would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for his team and nation, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including two matches games against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's only game for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he says, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by academy staff, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm hoping to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on the Tube after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
