The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
